    Membership Meeting
Voting Members: 13+ Secretary: Jesse and Jemuel

    - We’re having a benefit, probably 3/26/04, for “Anarchy Journal: Desire Armed” (unanimous). The magazine has been printed for a couple of decades, and the proceeds will go towards printing costs. This is during the Anarchist Bookfair in San Francisco.
    - We discussed having a Pirate Radio benefit with acoustic acts/spoken word during the week. A proposal was made and withdrawn. We discussed general issues about having weeknight events.
    - We discussed guestlists from radio stations.
    - Jemuel and Jesse went to the Planning Commission meeting in support of West Berkeley Association of Industrial Companies (WeBAIC). The meeting was about the proposed Berkeley Bowl. The next meeting is January 12, 2005 at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 7pm.
    - K Records will get a guest list for the Mirah show as long as they pay for it (Yes-13, No-0, Abstain-2).
    - We are having $150 in ones for shows which are $6/$7, refilled by the financial person as needed (Y-15, N-0, A-0).
    - We discussed the Tragedy show being all touring bands with no locals.
    - Vernon is paid security (unanimous).
    - Pat is working on making the heater quieter.
    - Ashley can spend up to $35 for New Year’s Eve decorations.
    - We lost $2543.87 in November, 2004.

    Minutes from December 4, 2004
    Membership Meeting
    Voting Members: 17+ Secretary: Jesse

    - We’re meeting with BPD Area Coordinator Shira Wednesday.
    - We discussed volunteer recruitment. We should recruit more people from different scenes. Ideas included having a “New Worker Night,” an orientation video, more descriptive job descriptions, a KALX public service announcement, and continuing giving “the spiel” from stage.
    - A proposal for a Gilman picnic/BBQ in July was tabled.
    - The next NOBOSS meeting is 12/15/04 at Modern Times Books in S.F.
    - Open Mic night was free, and about 25-35 people total showed up. Using a plug in mic (so no soundboard use was needed), it was all spoken word acts. Ben collected an e-mail list and may turn this into a regular night.
    - We discussed hardcore shows, the lack of punk shows, and local bands having a tough time getting shows. Dan is speaking with Mitch of Rocknroll Blitzkrieg about booking some garage-punk shows.
    - A 6th band is on the Queercore Blitzcore tour, so that show (12/11/04) is now 6 bands (unanimous).
    - Pat is showing some free movies the afternoon of 1/15, he’ll try to move it to the 16th (unanimous).
    - We are attending the 12/15/04 Planning Commission meeting to support West Berkeley Association of Industrial Companies (WeBAIC) about the Berkeley Bowl issue.
    - We will set aside time in the next 3 Gilman meetings to discuss the security procedures. We are approving the ones we have now and can amend/refine them later (Yes- 13, No- 0, Abstain- 3). An amendment that says that John, Alex, Jesse, Ben, and Mike can change these without Membership Approval also passed (Y-8, N-2, A-4).
    - The meeting notes are being posted on Live Journal.com by Jemuel and Jesse (who both have the access passwords). Minutes are still being typed up and posted at 924 and being saved in electronic format as before.
    - After extensive discussion, we decided the following about smoking within Gilman: We will have a 5 minute smoking break during membership meetings, otherwise smoking is not permitted during meetings (Y-9, N-3, A-1). Smoking is allowed during count-out at the coordinator’s discretion, otherwise smoking is not permitted in the office (Y-9, N-7, A-1). An amendment to allow smoking in the office failed (Y-5, N-8, A-2). Amendments to allow smoking at any time in the office at the coordinator’s discretion and to split the membership meetings into 1/2 smoking 1/2 non-smoking [like the AA and NA meetings] were not voted on as the successful amendments passed first and made the latter amendments moot.
    - Brian Edge paid back the $5000 Gilman Street loaned him to print the Gilman book.
    - We tabled x-mas sleepover and promotion agenda items to next meeting.
